Bayern Munich’s Goalkeeping Situation Ahead of Match Against Bayer Leverkusen
Ulreich Set to Step Up
With both Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig sidelined, Bayern Munich’s third-string goalkeeper, Sven Ulreich, is expected to make his first appearance in over a year and a half when the club takes on Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga this Saturday.
Confidence from the Coach
Despite his lengthy absence from competitive play, 37-year-old Ulreich enjoys the full support of FC Bayern’s coach, Vincent Kompany.
“I have complete faith in him as a reliable player. He has a wealth of experience and has been a key figure in numerous matches throughout his career. We aren’t putting any undue pressure on him; he won’t steal the spotlight. ‘Ulle’ has consistently performed well in training, and we hope he can translate that onto the pitch tomorrow. We remain optimistic about securing a victory with him,” Kompany expressed during a press conference on Friday.
Positive Vibes Within the Team
“Sven is a fantastic personality and has been part of FC Bayern for many years. He understands our current dynamics. I’ve heard from the training team that there’s great camaraderie among the three goalkeepers. The last time he played was a year and a half ago in Bremen, where we achieved a 5-0 victory. We have no doubts; he will perform just as well as the other two,” Kompany added.
Proven Experience
Throughout his tenure at Bayern, Ulreich has made a total of 103 appearances for the team.
