Karl Etta Eyong is making headlines in Spain. The 21-year-old Cameroonian striker has scored four goals and provided three assists in the ongoing La Liga campaign.

His season began at Villarreal before he moved to Levante on deadline day.

His strong start earned him a Player of the Month nomination, competing with stars like Kylian Mbappé.

Speaking to Canal+, Eyong discussed Cameroon’s plans for AFCON 2025 in Morocco.

He first paid tribute to captain Vincent Aboubakar.

“Vincent Aboubakar deserves great respect,” he said. “People forget players quickly when things are difficult, but I don’t.

I respect him deeply. In football, the one who performs must play. The one who struggles cannot start.

“If I get the chance, I will rely on him for advice. If selected, I will give everything. Playing AFCON would be a huge honour.

Hard work and results are essential. Without strong numbers, I cannot represent my country. Everything depends on consistency and humility.”

Eyong also spoke about his idols. He explained how Yaya Touré inspired him during his early days as a midfielder.

“My idol is Yaya Touré,” he said. “His power and acceleration impressed me.

Now, as a striker, I admire Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto’o. My dream is to play in the Premier League and experience Boxing Day football.”

Eyong’s performances in La Liga have already made him a rising star.

His attacking quality and determination have placed him among Cameroon’s brightest young talents.

With AFCON approaching, expectations will be high. Fans see him as a potential leader of the next generation.

Cameroon will need his sharpness and discipline to compete at the highest level.

For Eyong, AFCON 2025 represents both opportunity and responsibility.

His journey has only begun, but the spotlight already shines strongly on him.
