Kane and Yamal Featured as ESPNs Top Players of the Month for February

ESPN’s February Players of the Month: Kane and Yamal Shine

The ESPN Player of the Month recognition is back for its fourth installment, highlighting standout performances from the top five European leagues. After previous acknowledgments in October, November, December, and January, this edition celebrates February’s standout stars.

Dominance in La Liga and Bundesliga

In La Liga, Lamine Yamal from Barcelona emerged as the unanimous choice for the second consecutive month, solidifying his reputation as one of Spain’s finest talents. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane showcased his prowess, netting eight goals across just four Bundesliga matches.

Notably, Serie A celebrated a lesser-known talent who outperformed established forwards, claiming the league’s prestigious title for the first time. Additionally, ESPN recognized players in Ligue 1 and the Premier League, showcasing the breadth of talent across Europe.

How Selection Works

The selection process for these monthly honors is straightforward: three journalists from ESPN, located in different nations, cast votes for the top performers in each league. Each month, they identify their three best players, awarding 3 points for third place, 5 for second, and 10 for first. A player can achieve a maximum of 30 points if all three journalists designate them as the top performer. In the event of a tie, the number of first-place votes determines the winner.
