Julian Alvarez’s Agent Discusses Liverpool Trade Proposal Prior to Transfer to Atletico Madrid

Alvarez’s Agent Addresses Liverpool’s Alleged Interest
Julian Alvarez’s representative has clarified the situation regarding reports suggesting that Liverpool proposed a swap deal involving Luis Diaz for the striker prior to his transfer to Atletico Madrid last summer.
Diaz’s Transfer Request
Recent reports indicate that Luis Diaz, aged 28, requested Liverpool to grant him a move to Premier League rivals Manchester City after learning of their interest last summer.
Liverpool’s Reactions
In response to Diaz’s request, Liverpool hesitated to approve the transfer and instead explored the possibility of acquiring Alvarez, who is 25, as part of the deal. However, Manchester City’s management, led by Pep Guardiola, resisted this proposal.
Alvarez’s Transfer to Atletico
Ultimately, Alvarez joined Atletico Madrid for a reported fee of £82 million. His agent, Fernando Hidalgo, has since confirmed that no official offers were made by Liverpool.
Agent’s Statement
Hidalgo stated, “There were no official offers from Liverpool to sign Julian last season, and everything that has been said in this regard is false,” in an interview with Erem News. He further explained, “Last summer there were no offers because Atletico de Madrid didn’t want to sell the player, so negotiations didn’t take place.” Finally, the agent emphasized, “The player is fully committed to Atletico Madrid.”
