Jamie Vardy Attributes Surprising Move to Serie A’s Cremonese to Guidance from Enzo Maresca

Jamie Vardy Reveals Advice from Ex-Leicester Boss Enzo Maresca Before Cremonese Move

Jamie Vardy Shares Insights on His Move to Cremonese

Vardy’s Transition from Leicester to Italy

Jamie Vardy has disclosed the guidance he received from Enzo Maresca, the former Leicester City manager now leading Chelsea, before making his significant transfer to Italian club Cremonese.

Maresca, aged 45, played a pivotal role in bringing Leicester City and Vardy back to the Premier League before departing for Chelsea last summer.

New Chapter in Vardy’s Career

At 38, Vardy concluded his 13-year journey with Leicester after his contract lapsed at the end of the 2024-25 season, subsequently joining Serie A team Cremonese.

He sought Maresca’s counsel regarding this transition, and the former boss had only positive remarks about the club.

Vardy commented, “Out of everyone, I’ve been in touch with only one throughout the summer, that’s Enzo. We maintain our connection. I had an in-depth discussion with him once we recognized this opportunity was on the horizon, and he had nothing but admiration for the club and Cremona as a city. His recommendation was clear—come here, and that was that.”
