Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Manager Expresses Frustration After Latest Defeat

Borussia Mönchengladbach’s head coach Eugen Polanski did not hide his disappointment following his team’s recent performance in the Bundesliga. Their 3-0 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt has resulted in a streak of six games without a victory for Polanski’s squad. After a promising start to 2026 with a dominant 4-0 home win against Augsburg, the team has struggled, suffering three significant defeats and drawing in three low-scoring matches.

Manager’s Discontent

“I am really angry today because this loss was completely unnecessary and preventable,” Polanski asserted at the start of his post-match comments. “It’s frustrating that we are executing our game plan well between the penalty areas, yet we are outperformed in both boxes, which is something we can control.”

Quality Concerns Highlighted

Polanski elaborated on the team’s difficulties, stating, “Today was all about quality. Although we had a total of 20 shots compared to their 12, we only managed to get three on target, significantly reducing our chances of scoring. In contrast, Frankfurt successfully directed eight of their shots at goal.”

Reflection on Missed Opportunities

“We really struggled today; there was much more potential in this match,” Polanski summarized, expressing his frustrations. “Thus, I am incredibly upset.”

In response to a follow-up question, he added, “We found ourselves in the opponent’s box numerous times. However, we failed to connect with our target men on simple crosses and hesitated too long before taking shots. It circles back to the fundamentals, and I don’t need to pull out statistics to support that statement.”

Need for Improvement

“There is no point in dwelling on what could have been,” Polanski remarked. “The fact is we did not perform, and we must make improvements.”

Polanski concluded, “We practice diligently during training, but we must translate that effort into our matches. The players are well aware of what was lost today. They don’t need me to spell it out. It’s in their minds. If they can achieve some early successes in the game, it will help clarify their thinking.”
