Germany’s World Cup winning captain Lothar Matthaus has expressed that he underestimated Nick Woltemade’s decision to join Newcastle United.

Matthaus had his reservations when Woltemade opted for a move to Newcastle instead of Bayern Munich upon leaving VfB Stuttgart during the summer transfer window.

Rising Value of Woltemade

“If he were to consider another transfer now, his worth would already be in the triple digits. With his recent goals in the Premier League and his contribution to the national team, he’s only increased his market value,” Matthaus shared in an interview with BILD.

“I do believe he will remain with Newcastle for some time before contemplating any further transfers.”

Woltemade’s move from VfB Stuttgart to Newcastle could eventually reach €90 million, and he has found the net six times for his new team so far this season.
