Hurzeler Confirms Baleba’s Status: Brighton Player for the Season Despite Man Utd Interest

Hurzeler presser

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler addressed the media as his team is set to face Newcastle United this weekend.

The two teams are currently tied on points and will compete at the Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Seagulls have a strong home record, having lost just once in their last 11 Premier League matches at home, and they aim to secure three points that could elevate them into a European qualification position.

Injury Report

Hurzeler shared updates on player injuries and noted who will not be participating in Saturday’s match.

“Brajan Gruda will be sidelined for tomorrow’s game and won’t be available.

“Karou Mitoma and Joel Veltman are currently training, but we need to evaluate their conditions. There are still some uncertainties regarding both players, so we will monitor their situations closely.”

He also discussed Diego Gomez, who picked up an injury during international duty with Paraguay:

“Unfortunately, players often return with minor injuries that were not present when they left. We have been managing it over the past few days.

“We will assess all players, including Diego Gomez, and there’s a significant chance they will be options for the start of the game.”

Concerns Regarding Woltemade

The Brighton manager expressed his thoughts on Nick Woltemade, praising his impressive performances with Newcastle.

“He possesses a unique capability, especially considering his height.”

“If he stops scoring tomorrow, then I wish him the best in the future.”

“We will need to keep a close watch on him.”

When asked about Carlos Baleba, who is reportedly a target for Manchester United, Hurzeler stated that the club values the 21-year-old midfielder at approximately £100 million and outlined his expectations from the player.

“I believe it’s time for him to take ownership of his role. He must step up and accept responsibility.”

“As of now, he remains a Brighton player and will stay with us through the end of the season.”

“I expect him to take charge of his development.”
