Hull City Await Semi Ajayi’s Return from Injury

Semi Ajayi has been sidelined at Hull City since sustaining an injury after the opening match of the 2025/26 Championship season.
His absence has been felt by the Tigers, who continue to monitor his recovery closely.
The Nigerian defender started and completed the first league game against Coventry City on August 9, 2025..
However, during a subsequent training session, Ajayi picked up an injury that has sidelined him.
The 31-year-old has since missed six league fixtures, leaving Hull with limited options at the back.
Despite the setback, Ajayi is working hard on his rehabilitation programme, aiming to return stronger and fitter.
The club’s technical team remain cautious, not rushing him back to avoid further complications.
Manager Sergej Jakirovic offered an encouraging update regarding Ajayi’s condition during his press conference.
He admitted uncertainty over the exact timing of the player’s return but hinted at a possible comeback soon.
“I don’t know, maybe,” Jakirovic said when asked if the Nigerian could feature next Saturday.
He added that Ajayi currently has a “70, 80% chance” of being available for the clash against Watford.
Ajayi’s experience and defensive presence have been sorely missed, especially as Hull navigates a challenging start to the Championship season.
His leadership and aerial strength are qualities the Tigers are eager to restore at the heart of their defence.
For now, Hull fans will be hoping that Ajayi can complete his recovery without setbacks and provide much-needed stability as the season progresses.
His return would not only strengthen the backline but also lift the morale of the squad as they aim to climb the league table.
