Uli Hoeness has consistently expressed strong disapproval regarding FC Barcelona’s significant financial issues and the extensive debts they have accrued over time.

During his recent appearance on the OMR podcast, Hoeness reiterated his concerns. He remarked:

The financial model they employ is not one I would endorse. With debts amounting to 1.3 billion euros, how can that possibly function?

He added:

It appears utterly ridiculous and unfathomable that they are still competing in the top league. In any typical scenario, such a club wouldn’t be able to maintain its position. It’s astonishing that they are still allowed to play in the current league.

Contrast with Bayern’s Financial Stability

Hoeness further noted:

This situation is in stark contrast to the level of control we exercise at Bayern Munich and our robust financial health, which should be a benchmark for clubs across Europe. It is evident that effective management, prudent financial practices, and sporting quality must not rely on precarious financial strategies.
The stringent licensing rules in place and the scrutiny from financial audits would quickly immobilize any club burdened with 1.3 billion euros in debt.
