Ugandan forward Rogers Mato has entered into a pre-contract deal to officially join Heart of Midlothian, who are leading the Scottish Premiership, later this summer from Vardar, the champions of North Macedonia.

The 22-year-old has showcased impressive skill this season, netting 15 goals and providing two assists over 17 matches.

Mato has signed a three-year agreement with Hearts, which will take effect in July upon the conclusion of his current contract.

Having made his international debut in 2022, he has tallied eight goals in 41 appearances for Uganda, with one of his goals being a consolation in a recent defeat to Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations.

He began his professional journey in Uganda with Proline and KCCA before transferring to Sanliurfaspor in Turkey in 2023.

Mato later joined AP Brera in North Macedonia before moving to Vardar last year.

Currently, Vardar holds a narrow lead over second-placed Struga, with just one point separating them after 16 matches.
