Former England captain Wayne Rooney believes Mo Salah could part ways with Liverpool as early as the January transfer window.
Reports suggest that several Saudi Pro League clubs are targeting the Egyptian star. Salah has been the Reds’ main attacking force for several seasons.
Hia recent dip in form at the start of the 2025/26 campaign has only fueled speculation about his future.
Salah has now gone five games without a goal contribution, with his last goal coming in the 3–2 victory over Atletico Madrid on September 17.
This has intensified conversations about whether his influence at Anfield is starting to fade.
Speaking on the BBC’s Wayne Rooney Show, the Manchester United legend noted that years of carrying Liverpool’s attacking burden may finally be catching up with the 33-year-old forward.
“I just think Salah has played a lot of games over the last few years, and he’s been the main man, and he’s carried that pressure,” Rooney said.
“You’re probably in the top five great Premier League players, in my opinion. I think it looked like it maybe caught up a little bit with him.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if in January, or maybe next summer, if he does leave the club. Sometimes you don’t want to admit it but the next thing you know, you’re gone.”
Mo Salah remains one of Africa’s most decorated footballers. He has won multiple Premier League, Champions League, and Golden Boot awards since joining Liverpool in 2017.
