Harambee Starlets: New Faces Join Kenya Squad for Algeria Test

Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba has unveiled a 23-player squad for two tough international friendlies against Algeria later this month.

The team travels to Bilda for matches on Wednesday, November 26 and Sunday, November 30, as Kenya kicks off early preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Odemba kept the core of her WAFCON-qualifying group but injected fresh energy into the travelling side.

Emily Moranga, Providence Mukalo, Valerie Nekesa, Sheryl Muyera and Euphraiser Shilwatso all return to the fold. Mukalo reclaims her midfield spot after a strong run with Vihiga Queens.

While Muyera earns her first-ever call-up after standout performances for Zetech Sparks.

Shilwatso missed the final cut during the Gambia qualifiers but now receives another chance to fight for a permanent place in the squad ahead of a packed 2025 schedule.

The coach will travel without Ulinzi Starlets duo Tabitha Amoit and Lavender Ann, who both reported to the Kenya Defence Forces Recruit Training School in Eldoret.

Forward Violet Nanjala also stays out as she continues her recovery from the injury she suffered in the win over Gambia.

Kenya heads into the friendlies riding the high of a 4–1 aggregate victory over Gambia.

A result that sent the Starlets back to the continental stage for the first time since their 2016 debut.

With WAFCON 2026 offering a pathway to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Odemba has already set the bar high.

Kenya wants a semifinal finish and a ticket to the global stage.

The team reports to camp on Friday, November 21 and departs for Algeria on Sunday, November 23.
