Barcelona’s Coach Hansi Flick Reflects on Defeat to Sevilla

Barcelona’s head coach, Hansi Flick, expressed his determination to use the team’s recent 4-1 defeat to Sevilla as a learning opportunity. He emphasized the need for his squad to address their errors as they strive to protect their LaLiga title.

Recent Struggles for Barcelona

Flick’s team has faced two consecutive losses across all competitions, having previously fallen 2-1 to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. The setback against Sevilla marked the end of their unbeaten streak in LaLiga, and they now find themselves trailing behind arch-rivals Real Madrid by two points.

Flick’s Positive Outlook

Flick shared his thoughts in a press conference: “Today, I have to accept this defeat, and I’m looking positive, in a way. We also see the negative points in our game, which we have to change.” Currently, Barcelona sits on 19 points from their first eight matches.

Reflection on Performance

The coach continued, “The first half wasn’t good… we had no solutions to play out, it was really not good. But in the second half, the reaction, I appreciate a lot. What we did, how we played, it was really good to see.”

He added, “With this defeat, this emotion… It’s important that we keep it, and when we start again after the break, we will fight. We will fight for every title.”

Looking Ahead

Flick is optimistic about the upcoming international break, believing it will benefit the players. Barcelona will return to action on October 18th against Girona. He commented, “At the moment, it’s good we have a break, also for the players to play for the national teams. I think it’s a different atmosphere there, maybe.”

He concluded with remarks on improving team performance and ensuring players return in top condition, stating, “When they are back… then we try and work hard to (get back) on our level, what we normally want to play. This is the most important thing, but also, again, we need some players on their top level.”
