Habib Beye Opens Up on Stade Rennais Dismissal Rumours

Habib Beye has admitted he came close to being dismissed as head coach of Stade Rennais following his team’s 4-1 defeat to Nice in Ligue 1.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, the Senegalese manager confirmed that the club’s management had questioned his future after a disappointing run of results.

He said he managed to convince the board that he still has the energy and leadership to guide the team forward.

“In our situation, yes, we have to win,” Beye said. “But in our job, I don’t see every match as an ultimatum.

The question of my dismissal came up. It stopped. People at Stade Rennais still believe in what we are doing.”

Beye expressed gratitude to the club’s management, particularly to owner François Pinault, for maintaining their faith in him during a difficult period.

“It’s a real privilege to coach Stade Rennais,” he said. “I’m lucky to have an owner who is an extraordinary person.

He showed me his unwavering support again this morning.”

The former Red Star coach confirmed that a potential dismissal had been seriously discussed before the club decided to continue with him.

“We’re not going to pretend,” he said. “Everyone saw the news. It had to stop. It continues now for a specific reason.

The management believes I have the energy and ability to lead this team to victory tomorrow.”

Beye now faces a crucial challenge as Rennes travel to Toulouse, where victory could ease pressure and restore confidence in the dressing room.

The Senegalese tactician remains determined to turn things around and justify the club’s continued trust in his leadership.
