Gueye Issues Public Apology After Shocking Red Card

A rare moment of chaos unfolded at Old Trafford on Monday when Idrissa Gueye was sent off just 13 minutes into Everton’s clash with Manchester United.

The midfielder stunned fans after slapping teammate Michael Keane during a brief confrontation, leaving the referee with no option but to show a straight red.

Despite the setback, Everton regrouped and went ahead through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall before securing a memorable victory for manager David Moyes at the Theatre of Dreams.

Gueye has now addressed the controversy on social media.

The Senegal international also admitted that “emotions can run high,” but stressed that his behaviour was unacceptable and vowed it would not happen again.

“I want to apologise first to my team-mate Michael. I take full responsibility for my reaction.”

The win lifted Everton above rivals Liverpool on goal difference as they continued their climb up the table.
