Guardiola Expresses Desire to Reintegrate Alvarez into Manchester City

Guardiola: I'd love to have Alvarez back with Man City

Guardiola Expresses Desire to Reunite with Alvarez

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has expressed his keen interest in bringing striker Julian Alvarez back to the club. Alvarez is currently enjoying a successful tenure at Atletico Madrid, now in his second year with the team, making significant contributions both in LaLiga and European competitions.

Guardiola Reflects on the Past

During a press conference on Friday, Guardiola reminisced about the remarkable squad from their Treble-winning season. He mentioned players he had to bench, including Aymeric Laporte, a highly skilled central defender and a national team regular. He also brought up Alvarez, stating that he would have loved to keep him at the club, but the player sought more playing time and eventually left.

“Julian had to compete with Erling (Haaland), which was something extraordinary for us. Now he’s at one of the best teams in the world, Atlético Madrid, with a world-class coach (Diego Simeone) and outstanding teammates, and he’s performing incredibly well,” Guardiola noted.

In closing, Guardiola admitted, “Now I’d love to have him with me… but I understand.”
