Greater Accra Claims Victory Over Western Region
The opening game of the third matchday of the U17 girls’ championship at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence showcased a strong performance from Greater Accra, who defeated the Western Region 3-1. Greater Accra took an early lead as Abigail Awusiwaa successfully converted a penalty in the 5th minute. Teammates Agnes Attipoe and Last Agnes Safoah contributed further by scoring in the 12th and 30th minutes, respectively. Just before halftime, Western Region managed to narrow the deficit with a penalty from Serven Eliplim Gasu in the 33rd minute, leaving the score at 2-1. Greater Accra later secured their victory with a third goal, concluding the match at 3-1.
Brong Ahafo Versus Upper West
In the second match of the day, Brong Ahafo achieved a solid 2-0 victory against Upper West. The first half was closely contested until Chatey Wayikpen broke the deadlock in the 30th minute. Following the halftime break, Brong Ahafo extended their lead with a goal from Edna Frimpong, ensuring a secure 2-0 win and earning essential points for their team.
Central Region Dominates Volta Region
In a Group A showdown, Central Region delivered a commanding performance against Volta Region, winning 2-0. The scoring commenced early with Alberta Adjei converting a penalty in just the 2nd minute. Millicent Korkor Tetteh then emerged as the standout player, netting two goals in the 14th and 24th minutes. Her exceptional play earned her the Most Valuable Player accolade, as Central Region maintained strong control throughout the match.
Ashanti Region Edges Out Upper East
The final match of the day saw Ashanti Region secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Upper East. Ashanti took the lead in the 26th minute, courtesy of an impressive solo effort by Amponsah Franklina, who navigated past two defenders to score. Shortly thereafter, Afoakwa Anima Chrislord doubled their advantage in the 32nd minute. Upper East attempted to stage a comeback with a goal from Akakpo Love in the 37th minute, but Ashanti Region managed to hold on for the win in a tightly contested match.
