Glasner Signals Potential Extended Stay at Palace with Contract Update

Crystal Palace Manager Oliver Glasner Anticipates Contract Discussions to Heat Up

Ongoing Contract Situation

Crystal Palace’s head coach, Oliver Glasner, is prepared for contract negotiations to “heat up” in the upcoming week, as his current agreement is set to lapse in June. There are rumors that the Austrian tactician may have chosen to depart at the end of the current season.

Potential Extension Remains a Possibility

Despite avoiding inquiries regarding the managerial position at Manchester United, Glasner hasn’t completely ruled out a contract extension with Crystal Palace. Before the team’s match against Aston Villa this Wednesday, he commented, “I believe that in the coming weeks, we will ramp up discussions. After our match against Macclesfield on Friday, we’ll have three days off, and then we’ll focus on four solid weeks of work. During that time, I expect to see a resolution.”

He continued, “There has been speculation surrounding my future since my arrival. Honestly, it doesn’t concern me. A player might sign a new contract today and still leave in the summer. Therefore, the length of a contract doesn’t necessarily predict what will happen next.”

The Bigger Picture

Glasner also noted the unpredictability in managerial contracts, referencing player contracts to highlight that a lengthy agreement doesn’t guarantee stability. “For instance, Brennan has a contract for four and a half years. Signing a four-year deal doesn’t mean a club will retain the same manager throughout. Players sign for the club and its vision, not solely for the manager. It’s not just about Oliver Glasner.”

“While it’s natural to want to hear from the current manager, that doesn’t mean the situation is permanent.”
