Karela United, Hearts of Oak, Aduana Stars, and Vision FC all secured vital victories, while Nations FC and Samartex shared the spoils in a tense draw.
Asante Kotoko and Bibiani Gold Stars, representing Ghana in continental competitions, sat out the weekend’s action but are set to return in the next round.
Karela United edge Medeama in Tamale
Felix Mortu smashed home an 79th-minute winner to hand Karela United a 1-0 victory over Medeama at Aliu Mahama Stadium.
Medeama arrived in strong form after two wins but failed to turn 61% possession into goals. Karela played compactly and looked sharper in attack with nine total shots. Medeama managed six, with only two on target.
Mortu’s strike sealed Karela’s second win and pushed them into second place. Medeama dropped to fourth after their first defeat.
Karela visit Hohoe United next, while Medeama face Nations FC.
Vision FC return to winning ways against Hohoe United
Vision FC bounced back from their heavy defeat with a 2-0 home win over Hohoe United at Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex.
The first half ended goalless before Nana Kusi Asante scored in the 54th minute. Emmanuel Sanja doubled the lead two minutes later.
Vision dominated the second half to hand Hohoe their first defeat. Hohoe will now host Karela United, while Vision visit Dreams FC.
Nations FC and Samartex share points in Kumasi
Nations FC failed to break down Samartex in a 0-0 draw at Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
Kelvin Ampoful, Richard Danso, and Faisal Charwetey all went close, but Samartex stayed solid. The visitors grew into the game with quick counters, while Nations pressed late on but could not score.
Nations ended with 12 shots but no breakthrough. Samartex remain unbeaten with three straight draws.
Heart of Lions beat Bechem to stay perfect
Heart of Lions defeated Bechem United 1-0 at Kpando Sports Stadium to extend their unbeaten run.
Substitute Michael Ephson scored the decisive goal in the 59th minute, securing Lions’ third straight win and first place.
Bechem remain winless after three matches and face Hearts of Oak next. Lions prepare for a tough clash against Asante Kotoko.
Aduana Stars fight back to defeat All Blacks
Aduana Stars came from behind to beat Swedru All Blacks 2-1 at Nana Agyemang Badu I Stadium.
Kweku Aduandze opened the scoring in the 12th minute, but Emmanuel Marfo equalised before sealing victory with an 89th-minute strike.
The win was Aduana’s second in a row. They visit Samartex next, while All Blacks host Bibiani Gold Stars.
Hearts of Oak edge Eleven Wonders in Accra
Accra Hearts of Oak secured a 1-0 win over Eleven Wonders at Accra Sports Stadium.
Enock Asubonteng scored in the 17th minute to give Hearts their second straight victory.
Hearts dominated possession but created few clear chances. They now travel to Bechem United, while Eleven Wonders, still winless, host Young Apostles next.
Young Apostles seek first win against Dreams FC
Young Apostles return to Wenchi Sports Stadium aiming for their first win when they face Dreams FC.
The Apostles picked up their first point last weekend in a 1-1 draw with Hohoe United. Dreams arrive under pressure after two straight defeats and must improve both attack and defence.
Both sides need victory to boost their season. Apostles will rely on home support, while Dreams aim to use experience to avoid another loss.
Kotoko and Bibiani Gold Stars absent from Week 3
Asante Kotoko and Bibiani Gold Stars did not feature in Week 3 fixtures because both clubs are competing in African continental competitions.
Bibiani Gold Stars will head away to face Swedru All Blacks next, while Asante Kotoko will host in-form Heart of Lions at Baba Yara Stadium.
