Introduction of Digital Management in Football
A successful training session focused on the nationwide Competitions Management System (CMS) has concluded for the Brong Ahafo Regional Football Association (BARFA). This initiative is part of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) ongoing strategy to enhance football administration through digital means at all levels.
Overview of the Training Program
The three-day training event engaged BARFA officials, club delegates, referees, and match commissioners in preparation for the upcoming season. This program is integral to the GFA’s extensive CMS implementation plan, aimed at boosting the effectiveness and precision of football competition management throughout the nation.
Details of the Training Sessions
Led by GFA’s IT Head, Francis Adu, along with his colleague Caroline Anyanful, the sessions provided hands-on training on the upgraded CMS platform. Participants learned vital skills related to managing match schedules, monitoring game data, and optimizing administrative tasks via digital tools.
Expansion of CMS Usage
For the first time, clubs from the Second and Third Divisions, as well as those from the Women’s Division One League in the Brong Ahafo Region, will employ the CMS for their league fixtures. This marks a significant advancement in the GFA’s initiative to integrate digital operations beyond the top-tier divisions into the grassroots levels.
Registration and Key Areas Covered
During the training, 147 referees were registered on the first day, followed by 65 match commissioners on the second day. The program emphasized critical aspects such as tracking player penalties and dismissals, analyzing match statistics, and enhancing data integrity in regional tournaments.
Nationwide Rollout of CMS Training
Similar training initiatives have already been rolled out to other Regional Football Associations, including those in Central, Ashanti, Upper West, Eastern, and Greater Accra regions, as part of a comprehensive national rollout.
Expected Impact on Football Competitions
The implementation of CMS at regional and lower-tier levels is anticipated to greatly enhance operational efficiency, transparency, and data management in domestic football competitions.
Future Goals of the Association
The GFA has established a two-year objective to fully incorporate all levels of Ghanaian football, including Colts competitions, onto the CMS platform. Achieving this will represent a landmark step in the complete digital transformation of football administration throughout the country.
