Getafe’s Manager Bordalas Critiques Taunting from Real Madrid Stars Vini Jr and Bellingham Following Loss
Bordalas Critiques Vinicius Jr Following Madrid Defeat
Getafe’s manager, Jose Bordalas, expressed his disappointment with Vinicius Jr after Sunday’s loss to Real Madrid at home.
Controversial Moments in the Match
Vinicius Jr was involved in a significant incident just 37 seconds into the match, leading to the sending off of Allan Nyom. Kylian Mbappe netted the only goal in the 80th minute, shortly after Nyom’s red card. The situation escalated further when Alexis Sancris received a red card in the 84th minute.
Bordalas’s Reactions
Bordalas reacted strongly, stating, “Vinicius told me ‘great substitution,’ and then (Jude) Bellingham approached me and said something. I instructed him to keep focusing on the game.”
He criticized Vinicius for provoking Nyom, which he believed negatively impacted his team’s performance.
“Vinicius feigned an attack by touching his face. To me, this should have resulted in a yellow card at most, not a red. The referee didn’t provide an explanation as VAR wasn’t consulted,” Bordalas remarked. He also emphasized that Kiko’s earlier yellow card was, in his eyes, unjust.
“Interestingly, we created opportunities even with nine players. It would have been a fitting reward for our players, who fought hard against an exceptional opponent like Madrid,” he added.
Game Analysis
Bordalas concluded, “We played with courage, defended well, and seemed to have control over the game. Unfortunately, the situation became difficult due to the red cards. Referees are human and can make mistakes, but that action did not warrant a red card.”
