German side Mainz 05 Land in South Africa To Inspire Future Stars

Bundesliga side Mainz 05 have arrived in South Africa as part of a tour dedicated to football development and community impact.

The visiting delegation features Franz May, Head of Internationalisation, Stephan Bandholz, Director of CSR & Stadium Management, and Fotios Potsis, International Soccer School Coach and Director of Sports at Schachter Sports.

In Cape Town and the Cape Winelands, the club is rolling out specialized coaching clinics designed to equip local coaches and expose young players to professional-level training.

The program is about empowering communities and providing lasting football knowledge.

They will also headline the Freestyle Championship at the V&A Waterfront on Saturday, October 4, giving fans a festival of tricks, creativity, and football artistry.

The showcase will bring together some of South Africa’s most talented freestyle players, alongside fan activities and interactive experiences.


By blending grassroots training with entertainment, Mainz 05 aim to leave both a sporting and cultural footprint during their stay.


The tour reinforces the club’s long-term commitment to global partnerships while spotlighting the unifying power of the game
