Eric Garcia Initiates Contract Discussions with Barcelona

Eric Garcia has disclosed that negotiations for a new contract are currently in progress with Barcelona.

The Spanish defender has established himself as a key player under coach Hansi Flick after previous speculation regarding a potential transfer away last year.

Garcia’s Comments on Future Prospects

Garcia shared his thoughts during an interview on Jijantes: “We will be addressing everything shortly. We’ve begun the conversations regarding a renewal. As for the captaincy? It’s uncertain if I could be a candidate for that role in the future.”

Current Contract Status

Garcia’s existing contract with Barcelona is now entering its final year.

He continued, “I’ve always played as a centre-back, but I’m also comfortable taking on the role of a fullback. Last year, we didn’t start well; Monaco scored three goals against us during the Gamper. We’ve improved since then, we are a young squad, and we have played all three games away.”
