Gambia Players Threaten to Boycott Seychelles WCQ Over Unpaid Bonuses

The Gambia is on the brink of crisis as players threaten to boycott today’s crucial World Cup qualifying campaign Group F clash against Seychelles over unpaid bonuses.

According to sources within the Gambia Football Federation (GFF), the situation looks dire, with funds unlikely to arrive before Tuesday.

That means the game, scheduled for 1 p.m. in Mauritius, could be in jeopardy unless a last-minute financial breakthrough occurs.

Players are demanding the immediate payment of bonuses from three previous fixtures against Equatorial Guinea in June, Kenya in September, and Burundi.

Frustrated and exhausted after traveling more than 15 hours to reach Mauritius, the team has reportedly drawn a firm line: “No payment, no game.”

Tension in the camp has reached boiling point, with several senior players expressing anger at what they describe as repeated neglect by football authorities.

Head coach Johnny McKinstry now faces an enormous challenge as he tries to calm the situation and get his side on the pitch.

With Gambia already out of the qualification race, the crisis adds further embarrassment to a disappointing World Cup campaign.
