Galatasaray have confirmed that Victor Osimhen will be sidelined for at least two weeks after scans revealed a minor hamstring tear.
The striker picked up the injury during the Super Eagles’ dramatic World Cup playoff defeat to DR Congo.
He was substituted before halftime in that match and never returned, with subsequent medical checks in Istanbul showing internal bleeding around the affected area.
Despite early fears, the club’s medical team believes the 26-year-old is on track for a relatively swift recovery.
Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek provided the clearest timeline yet, confirming the club is working around a two-week rehabilitation program.
“His MRI was performed here. He’ll likely have a recovery period of approximately two weeks. Our focus is on Osimhen being ready for the Fenerbahçe match. Our doctors are working on that,” he said as per Hurriyet.
In the meantime, Osimhen will miss their league meeting with Gençlerbirliği as well as the Champions League clash against Union Saint-Gilloise.
These absences come at a critical moment in Galatasaray’s season, but all eyes are now on December 1, when the club hopes to unleash their Nigerian star in the fiercely anticipated derby against Fenerbahçe.
