Fulham Finalizes Transfer of Benda to Van Persies Feyenoord
Feyenoord Secures Loan Deal for Fulham Keeper Steven Benda
Feyenoord has finalized the acquisition of German goalkeeper Steven Benda from Fulham on a loan deal just hours before the closure of the Dutch transfer window.
Loan Details
The 27-year-old Benda has committed to a loan arrangement lasting six months in Rotterdam, where he will serve as the backup to Timon Wellenreuther, the club’s first-choice goalkeeper and fellow German.
Previous Experience
Before this move, Benda spent the early part of the season on loan at Millwall, where he made 11 appearances and recorded three clean sheets.
Reasons for the Transfer
Feyenoord was in search of a second-choice goalkeeper following the departure of Justin Bijlow to Genoa earlier this month. After an attempted acquisition of Middlesbrough’s Seny Dieng did not materialize, the Netherlands-based club turned their attention to Benda from Fulham.
Since joining Fulham from Swansea City in 2023, Benda has participated in four matches for the senior team, all occurring in domestic cup competitions.
