Valdano Expresses Concern Over Vinicius Jr.’s Behavior
Former Real Madrid general manager Jorge Valdano has raised alarms regarding the on-field behavior of Vinicius Jr., suggesting that it is spiraling out of control.
Incident During Barcelona Match
During a recent match against Barcelona, the Brazilian forward had a significant outburst when coach Xabi Alonso opted to substitute him with Rodrigo Goes in the 71st minute.
Vinicius was visibly upset by the decision. Instead of sitting calmly on the bench, he erupted in frustration, making angry gestures before leaving the field, ultimately seen sulking in the home dugout.
Valdano’s Assessment
Speaking on Movistar+, Valdano commented: “Vinicius is losing his grip. He seems absolutely uncontrollable, even heading to the locker room instead of remaining on the bench.”
He questioned whether anyone within the Real Madrid team is addressing Vinicius’s behavior, wondering if conversations are happening that might help him reflect on his actions and return to a calmer state.
Reflections on Post-Match Conduct
Valdano also touched on an altercation that took place at the conclusion of the Clásico, which involved Vinicius. He remarked, “Once the match concludes, Vinicius again loses control, this time directed at Lamine Yamal. There appears to be a consistent lack of control that is impacting his game.”
Yet, Valdano did not overlook the forward’s performance during the match, stating, “Vinicius played exceptionally well, feeling physically fit and strong. He did not understand the reason for his substitution as he believed he could further influence the game.”
