Former Palace Owner Jordan: Nuno Got What He Desired at Forest

Ex-Palace owner Jordan: Nuno copped what he asked for at Forest

Nuno Espirito Santo’s Comments Cost Him the Nottingham Forest Position

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan believes that Nuno Espirito Santo effectively talked himself out of the managerial role at Nottingham Forest.

Nuno was dismissed from his role at Forest and succeeded by Ange Postecoglou earlier this week.

Jordan’s Analysis

In response, Jordan shared his thoughts on the situation during an appearance on talkSPORT: “What the manager has done is typical of those in his position. When they’re dissatisfied with their circumstances, they tend to voice their frustrations, hinting that things aren’t as favorable as they should be. That’s what’s really being communicated.”

He continued, “Regardless of your opinion on owner Evangelos Marinakis, he is not someone to be underestimated. He is not one to engage in frivolous games.”

Jordan emphasized Marinakis’s serious nature, stating, “He operates at a substantial level, and players like Morgan Gibbs White can attest to that. It likely made him reflect on why he was told what he was told at that particular time.”

Decision-Making Dynamics

He pointed out that the involvement of Edu and Marinakis’s strategy to delegate authority might have left Nuno in a predicament. “Nuno had to either adapt to the situation or not move forward with it,” Jordan stated.

“From your perspective, Nuno basically set himself up for this. He got what was coming to him—what did he expect?”

Jordan questioned Nuno’s understanding of the potential consequences of his comments: “Did he think he would receive applause for that? If you’re unfamiliar with how someone like Marinakis operates, then you’re making a foolish move by speaking out publicly.”

He concluded, “If he had any awareness of Marinakis’s character, especially given their previous close association, then Nuno must have been aware of what the outcome would be.”
