Martin Kelly Announces Retirement from Football
Former defender for Liverpool and Crystal Palace, Martin Kelly, has made the decision to retire from professional football.
A Career Reflection
At 35 years of age, Kelly has concluded his playing career after a stint at Wigan Athletic, where he was on loan from West Bromwich Albion.
In a conversation with The Athletic, Kelly shared, “I’ve yet to compose an official announcement on social media; I’ve only informed my close friends and family about my retirement.” He further explained, “Back in March, I discussed my thoughts with my family regarding the future. Around that same time, I received an invitation to participate in a legends match for Liverpool against Chelsea. One of the conditions was that players had to be retired, which solidified my choice.”
