Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC have appointed former Angola national team coach Pedro Gonçalves as their new head coach.
The 49-year-old Portuguese tactician, replaces Romain Folz, who departed the club earlier this month.
Gonçalves earned widespread recognition during his five-year spell with Angola, where he introduced an attractive attacking style and played a key role in promoting young African talent to the international stage.
Before his move to Africa, he worked in Sporting Lisbon’s academy, grooming several players who went on to shine in Europe.
At his unveiling in Dar es Salaam, Yanga officials revealed that his first major assignment will be steering the team through the CAF Champions League group stage while maintaining their stronghold on the Tanzanian Premier League.
