Departure from Professional Football
Mattia Caldara, previously associated with AC Milan and Atalanta, has declared his retirement from professional football at the age of 31.
Recent Season and Career Reflections
Last season, Caldara played in Serie B for Modena. In an interview with Sky Italia’s Gianluca di Marzio, he shared his thoughts on his career trajectory, stating,
Following my impressive season at Atalanta, I felt like I had reached the pinnacle of my career. However, the injuries began to accumulate, gradually affecting both my physical condition and my self-esteem.
He continued,
I must admit that I was unable to regain the form I once had. The burden of expectations and the desire to reclaim my former self took a significant toll on me mentally.
Caldara also noted that his struggles extended beyond his performance on the pitch, affecting his personal relationships as well.
