Nottingham Forest Manager Reflects on Tottenham Departure
Postecoglou’s Insight on His Dismissal
Ange Postecoglou, the head coach of Nottingham Forest, revealed that he anticipated his departure from Tottenham Hotspur prior to the club’s Europa League final last season.
The Australian was let go from Spurs just days after securing a victory against Manchester United in the final.
Emotions Surrounding the Change
“It was quite a unique experience for me, as I have never been sacked before. This was the first off-season I’ve ever had, and it made me contemplate my next steps. I was eager to find a club that would allow me to build on my career,” Postecoglou explained.
“Initially, if you’d posed the question of whether I would consider a position with Nottingham Forest, I would have dismissed it because of the work Nuno had done. However, when the opportunity arose, I was ready to embrace it.”
Addressing his exit from Tottenham, he shared, “It wasn’t an ideal situation; I had an inkling it would happen before the final. It didn’t catch me off guard. We held a parade, but I realized my time there was over. From my viewpoint, that gave me a moment to come to terms with it. Despite the difficulties some Spurs fans encountered, every Spurs fan I’ve met has been friendly and supportive, so I must have left a positive impression!”
