Issues with FIFA Payments to World Cup 2026 Ticket Resellers

Ticket Resellers Await Payment from FIFA

Recent findings by BBC Sport reveal that individuals who sold tickets for the 2026 World Cup on FIFA’s official resale platform are waiting for substantial payments.

FIFA’s policy stipulates that remuneration should be completed within 60 calendar days following a transaction. However, many ticket sellers who conducted sales in early October have yet to receive their funds.

FIFA’s Response and Payment Delays

Despite being scrutinized for its ticket pricing strategies for the World Cup, FIFA has chosen not to comment on the reasons behind the payment delays. Sources indicate that the holdup arises from FIFA’s requirement to collect further banking information from the affected sellers before they can process these payments.

Context of the Ticket Sales

The tickets in question were part of a pre-sale event that lasted for ten days in September, during which one million tickets became available. Only individuals with a Visa card could participate in this sale. It remains unclear how many fans are experiencing similar issues with their payments.

Personal Accounts from Affected Fans

Iain, a supporter from England, reports being owed approximately £650 for a ticket he sold 65 days ago for Canada’s first match in Toronto. He intended to use this money to secure seats for England’s fixtures now that they have been finalized.

He expressed frustration, saying, “FIFA is generating billions from this World Cup but cannot seem to manage basic payment processing in a timely manner.” He added that the delays appear to be affecting numerous individuals.
