In the first encounter of Group B, Central Region exhibited a dominant display against Upper West. They quickly took control of the game, with Alberta Abube scoring a goal just 10 minutes in. Continuing their strong performance into the second half, Felicia Mokwah increased their lead in the 36th minute. Philipa Antwi secured a decisive 3-0 win with a final goal, establishing a robust start to their tournament campaign.

Thrilling Match Between GFA Elite and Brong Ahafo

The second match proved to be an exhilarating clash between GFA Elite, Bolga, and Brong Ahafo. GFA Elite struck first, taking a 1-0 advantage courtesy of a goal from Gaab Stellar. However, the tide turned when Margaret Akosua Tawiah scored twice for Brong Ahafo in the 21st and 28th minutes, putting her team ahead 2-1. GFA Elite showed determination by converting a penalty in the 35th minute, leveling the score at 2-2 and leading to a penalty shootout. In the end, GFA Elite triumphed in a dramatic shootout, netting four penalties to Brong Ahafo’s one.

Greater Accra Dominates Volta Region

In Group A, Greater Accra displayed tremendous offensive prowess against the Volta region. They took control early, with Venunye Aglebe scoring in the 12th minute. Ethel Amoakwaa then netted two goals in quick succession, first in the 26th minute and then again just after halftime in the 47th minute. Aglebe capped off a stellar performance with another goal in the 42nd minute, leading to a convincing 4-0 victory and establishing Greater Accra as a formidable contender in the tournament.

Intense Encounter Between Upper East and Eastern Elite B

The day’s second match featured a gripping contest between Upper East and Eastern Elite B. Eastern Elite B took an early lead with a goal from Azkaban Mary Magdalene in the 10th minute. Upper East, unwilling to yield, fought back and managed to equalize with a goal from Awane Joyce in the 30th minute. Just four minutes later, Joyce struck again, completing a remarkable comeback and securing a 2-1 victory for Upper East.

Ashanti vs Eastern Ends Dramatically

The third match spotlighted an exciting battle between Ashanti and Eastern. Ashanti stormed ahead with goals from Obeng Lordina in the second minute and Anna Foriwaa Thompson in the 21st minute. Although Eastern pulled one back before halftime through a goal by Christiana Ashiaku in the 25th minute, Ashanti maintained a 2-1 lead at the break.

In the second half, Eastern made a strong revival. Their perseverance paid off when Kpentey Belinda scored in the 35th minute, leveling the match at 2-2, which sent the game into a penalty shootout. In this high-pressure situation, Eastern clinched victory, overcoming Ashanti 5-4 from the penalty spot.

Northern Region Advances Smoothly

Meanwhile, in a more straightforward match, the Northern region advanced to the next round with a solid 2-0 win against the Western region, showing they are also a strong contender in this tournament.
