Fenerbahce’s Withdrawal from Yves Bissouma Deal Explained by President Ali Koc
Introduction to Bissouma’s Situation
Fenerbahce’s president, Ali Koc, has clarified the reasons behind the club’s decision to back away from securing a deal for Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma. There was significant interest from Fenerbahce, as well as their city rivals Galatasaray, during the recent summer transfer window.
Bissouma’s Status at Tottenham
The future of Bissouma at Tottenham appears uncertain as he seems to have fallen down the ranks following the signing of Joao Palhinha, which may impact his playing time under manager Thomas Frank.
Koc’s Remarks on the Transfer
In an interview with Fener Ajans, Koc revealed that Bissouma was a prime target for the club but that the transfer fell through due to an injury the player sustained recently.
“Everyone here is looking for a player who can operate as a number 8. Bissouma seemed like a good fit, but unfortunately, he got injured,” Koc remarked.
He further elaborated on the club’s requirements:
“We need a clever number 8 who can handle distribution effectively and manage box-to-box play. We are exploring options, focusing on younger talents. At Fenerbahce, the transfer window is always open until the very last moment. The flow of players coming in and out is continuous, and we will explore all possibilities right up until the deadline.”
