Como 1907 coach Cesc Fàbregas has given an encouraging update on Senegalese forward Assane Diao, who has been sidelined for over six months.

Speaking to DAZN after Como’s 2-0 win over Juventus, Fàbregas explained that the 19-year-old is close to rejoining full training.

“We pushed a little,” he said. “He hasn’t trained with the group yet, but that shows his importance to us. We want him back quickly.”

Diao has been out since April and has featured in only one competitive match this season.

His absence has been felt deeply by Como, who have missed his pace, energy, and creativity in attack.

Fàbregas, who continues to build a promising young side in Serie A, highlighted the player’s influence and determination during recovery.

“He hasn’t trained with the team for even a day,” the coach added. “He’s been out for six or seven months, but we all know his value.”

The Spanish coach confirmed that Diao will resume team training on Tuesday, with a gradual reintegration planned to protect his fitness.

The staff aims to bring him back steadily to avoid any recurrence of injury.

Fans of Como will welcome the news with relief. Diao had quickly earned admiration for his dynamic forward play before the injury halted his momentum.

Fàbregas’ update signals that the young Senegalese striker could return to competitive action in the coming weeks, a development that will boost Como’s attacking options for the rest of the Serie A campaign.
