Former Burnley captain Brownhill joins Al-Shabab: I'm hoping to score a lot of goals!

Josh Brownhill Transfers to Al-Shabab in Saudi Pro League

Former Burnley captain Josh Brownhill has made a move to join Al-Shabab this week in the Saudi Pro League.

Career Move

Despite expectations that Everton would offer Brownhill a lucrative £100,000 weekly contract to play under Moyes during this season, the midfielder has opted for a new adventure in the Saudi league instead.

Having wrapped up his five-year tenure at Turf Moor, Brownhill leaves after a remarkable record of 211 appearances and 32 goals. He expressed enthusiasm about his new venture, predicting it would yield significant goal-scoring opportunities.

“I feel deeply honored to become part of Al-Shabab,” Brownhill remarked. “The playing style of the manager, including the formation and overall vision, is what truly drew me here. I’m looking forward to finding the net frequently and contributing to our pursuit of trophies this season.”

Impressive Season with Burnley

During the last Championship season, the 29-year-old delivered an outstanding performance for Burnley, netting 18 goals as the team secured promotion. He elaborated on his choice to transition and the encouraging environment he has encountered so far.

“The atmosphere here has been incredible since my arrival. Everyone, from the staff to the fans, has been welcoming and supportive. I am eager to begin and demonstrate my abilities,” he stated.

Brownhill will be teaming up with Atletico Madrid’s celebrated Yannick Carrasco along with former Southampton and Watford player Wesley Hoedt as they look to make a serious title challenge this season.
