Emery: Monchi exit a mutual agreement with Aston Villa

Emery Clarifies Monchi’s Departure from Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has stated that Monchi’s exit was not a forced decision.

New Appointment

Monchi has departed from Villa and has been succeeded by compatriot Roberto Olabe as the club’s sporting director.

Insights on Monchi’s Departure

According to reports from Spain, it has been rumored that Monchi felt exhausted at Villa and believed he had maximized the potential of the team amidst challenges related to Profit & Sustainability.

Emery, speaking prior to Villa’s Europa League match against Bologna, remarked, “We began this journey three years ago with a vision shared with the club, alongside my staff. Monchi joined us approximately six to seven months later and contributed for two years. Personally and professionally, he has been excellent.”

He continued, “After two years, he felt it was time to embark on a new chapter, which was a mutual decision with the club. I want to wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Emery also emphasized the swift action taken to fill the vacated position, stating, “We quickly reacted by bringing in someone I know well and trust significantly, Roberto Olabe, who is here to support us.”
