RCD Espanyol’s Strong Start to the Season

RCD Espanyol has made a commendable beginning to the season, remaining unbeaten in their initial four matches. This impressive run included three victories at home against Atlético de Madrid, CA Osasuna, and Real Mallorca, alongside a draw at Real Sociedad. However, their momentum faltered as they experienced four straight matches without a win, until they managed to secure a victory against Real Oviedo away on Matchday 9.

This victory was followed by another match where they maintained a clean sheet, this time winning 1-0 at home against Elche CF, an event that coincided with the club’s 125th anniversary. Carlos Romero scored the decisive goal shortly after half-time.

In mid-September, Espanyol celebrated their 1000th win in the first division with a 2-1 success over RCD Mallorca, making them the seventh team in history to achieve this milestone, joining the ranks of Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Athletic Club, Valencia CF, and Sevilla FC. Their promising start has positioned RCD Espanyol sixth in the standings, rekindling hopes for a possible return to European competitions.

Luis Milla Shines at Getafe CF

Getafe CF midfielder Luis Milla is having a breakout season, having recorded six assists — the most in the league this season — over 12 matches. His performance has made him a vital part of José Bordalás’ well-organized squad.

No other player in the top five European leagues has matched his assist tally before the last international break of the year. Getafe’s solid start, with five wins and 17 points, has seen Milla honored as MVP four times.

Milla is effective in creating opportunities from both open play and set pieces, establishing himself as the key playmaker in midfield for Los Azulones. Since joining from Granada CF in 2022, he has steadily emerged as a key starter alongside Mauro Arambarri under Bordalás, making significant contributions to the team’s success.

Eder Sarabia’s Elche CF Aim for Stability

Elche CF, with three wins and three draws at home, has transformed the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero into a stronghold, standing as one of the few teams in LaLiga EA Sports yet to lose at home this season.

Led by Eder Sarabia, a former assistant coach at FC Barcelona, Elche CF has become one of the most entertaining teams to watch. Their attacking and possession-based approach has enabled them to compete fiercely against stronger opponents, earning respect for their performances against leading LaLiga teams.

Sarabia’s leadership has resulted in two wins and two draws in September, earning him the title of LaLiga EA Sports Manager of the Month. Currently, the team sits in 11th place, with a positive outlook for the future.

Luiz Júnior Ramps Up Villarreal CF’s Defensive Strength

Villarreal CF currently occupies third place in the league, greatly thanks to the significant contributions of goalkeeper Luiz Júnior. So far this season, El Submarino Amarillo has accumulated 26 points, marking their second-best record after 12 matches in a top-flight Spanish season.

The Brazilian keeper boasts the highest number of clean sheets in the league, with six, including a trio of consecutive matches without conceding a goal. Only Arsenal’s David Raya has more clean sheets (seven), and no goalkeeper has allowed fewer goals than Luiz Júnior’s tally of four across the top five European leagues.

After recovering from a costly mistake during a 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in their Champions League debut, Luiz Júnior has solidified his place in goal with consistently strong performances in the league.

Etta Eyong Leads the Charge for Levante UD

The young forward has emerged as one of the top scorers in LaLiga EA Sports this season, netting six goals in 12 matches. Only Kylian Mbappé, Julián Alvarez, and Robert Lewandowski have scored more than the 22-year-old Cameroonian.

Since moving to Levante UD from Villarreal CF over the summer, Karl Edouard Blaise Etta Eyong has achieved the highest number of goal involvements (six goals and three assists) among players born in 2003 or later in LaLiga EA Sports this term.

The entire club feels like a family to me,

Eyong shared with GiveMeSport.

Everyone supports my happiness and success, and I am eager to repay the fans. Their cheers empower me, and seeing young fans wear my name on their shirts fills me with joy and motivation to give my best for this club.
