Eintracht Frankfurt Parts Ways with Head Coach Dino Toppmöller

Toppmöller Departs Eintracht Frankfurt

Coach’s Statement

Upon his departure from Frankfurt, Toppmöller expressed:

“I would have preferred to continue my journey with this team and tackle the upcoming challenges. However, I respect the decision made. Each day, I approached my role at Eintracht with enthusiasm and dedication. Despite the current unsatisfactory circumstances, I take pride in what we have accomplished together over the past two and a half years. It is unfortunate that we can’t proceed together. I extend my gratitude to everyone who believed in me and supported my tenure. Thank you to the players, coaching staff, the executive team, and all the club’s personnel. It has truly been an honor. I wish Eintracht a period of stability and, notably, success.”

Interim Coaching Arrangements

The club has announced that Dennis Schmitt, the head coach for the under-21 squad, along with Alexander Meier, who coaches the under-19 team, will take charge temporarily. Bild reports that they will oversee the Champions League match against Qarabag this week, with plans for a new permanent head coach to be at the helm during the upcoming match against Hoffenheim.

Defensive Struggles

Though Toppmöller successfully led Eintracht into the Champions League based on their league performance, the team’s recent outings have showcased significant defensive issues. Frankfurt currently holds the joint-worst defense record in the league, having conceded nine goals across their initial three matches of the season.

Coach Candidates

Given that Frankfurt remains in the Champions League, they have the potential to attract a high-caliber coach. Among the notable candidates available are Marco Rose, Edin Terzic, and Roger Schmidt. Additionally, former Bundesliga coaches like Sandro Wagner, Bo Svensson, and Adi Hütter may also be in consideration.
