Egypt’s Ramadan Sobhi Held In Detention For Forgery

Egyptian winger Ramadan Sobhi will remain in custody after a criminal court in Giza ordered his provisional detention.

While investigators continue probing a forgery case connected to academic documents.

Sobhi appeared in court on Saturday alongside his lawyers for the second session of proceedings.

Judges reviewed fresh case papers before adjourning the matter until Tuesday.

The Pyramids FC player is accused, along with three others, of orchestrating falsified paperwork at an institute for tourism and hotels in Giza.

The allegations include forging official documents, arranging for another person to sit exams in his place, and submitting records linked to attendance that prosecutors say never occurred.

The court insisted all defendants must be present for the next session. And also requested full representation from the legal teams involved.

During Saturday’s hearing, the accused were placed in the defendant’s enclosure under tight security.

Each of them denied the charges when confronted by the court.

Ramadan Sobhi, who had been released on bail of LE 100,000 earlier in the investigation, will now remain detained until Tuesday’s sitting.

The upcoming hearing is expected to determine whether the case proceeds to a full trial.

And also whether further detainment is required, or if any of the defendants qualify for provisional release.
