Egypt endured a 2-0 defeat to Uzbekistan in the semifinals of the Al Ain International Cup.
Uzbekistan, who are gearing up for their first-ever World Cup appearance next year, pressed early and broke through with a sharp finish from Oston Urunov.
The midfielder doubled the advantage later in the half, rounding goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi before slotting into an open net.
For Egypt, the setback marked the second loss since Hossam Hassan took charge in February 2024.
The friendly tournament, hosted in the UAE from 13 to 18 November, includes Egypt, Uzbekistan, Cape Verde, and Iran.
With the defeat, Egypt will now face Cape Verde in the third-place playoff on 17 November at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium.
Uzbekistan, meanwhile, advance to meet Iran in the final as their preparations continue for the 2026 World Cup.
Egypt are using the Al Ain Cup as part of their build-up to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Pharaohs are drawn in Group B, where they will meet Angola, South Africa, and Zimbabwe when the tournament kicks off in Morocco this December.
