Dundee Utd Defender Stephenson Addresses Liverpool Comeback Speculations
Fullback Dismisses Early Return to Liverpool
Luca Stephenson, the fullback currently on loan at Dundee United, has clarified that a premature return to his parent club, Liverpool, in January is not in his plans.
There have been rumors regarding the possibility of the Reds recalling him due to injury issues affecting their defensive lineup.
Commitment to Dundee United
In an interview with The Courier, Stephenson expressed his desire to see out the entire season with Dundee United.
My aim is to remain with the club for the full duration of my loan,
he stated.
Regardless of my performance, I committed to experiencing a complete season.
He added,
I make an effort to put aside my status as a Liverpool player. Right now, my focus is entirely on being a part of Dundee United.
Appreciation for His Time at Liverpool
Stephenson also acknowledges the invaluable experience he gained during his tenure at Liverpool.
Gaining Confidence from High-Level Training
Having been a part of Liverpool over the last couple of years – both in gameplay and training – I don’t find myself intimidated by any opponent,
he remarked.
He noted,
Training daily with some of the best talents globally naturally boosts one’s confidence. If I manage to handle 11-a-side matches against players like Luis Diaz, I feel prepared to face anyone in this league.
Facing Top Talent
Stephenson reflected on his summer training experiences, mentioning his encounters with talented players, including Diaz, Florian Wirtz, and Cody Gakpo, all of whom present a formidable challenge.
While some discuss the downsides of recruiting players from top-tier academies, I believe it can foster a strong inner belief,
he added.
As long as that confidence remains in check and does not veer into arrogance, it serves as a significant advantage.
