Fabio Vieira Shines with Hamburger SV Despite Late Collapse

Stellar Performance in Dortmund

Arsenal’s loaned player, Fabio Vieira, has recently been showcasing remarkable skills while playing for Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga, continuing this trend with an assist in the match against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

Dortmund, trailing by nine points behind Bayern Munich, stood firm as the second-best team in the league. They aimed to extend their lead over the third-placed team with a home victory against HSV.

Early Lead for HSV

The match took a surprising turn in the first half when HSV struck first, with Philip Otele putting them ahead before Vieira demonstrated his influence on the game.

In the 37th minute, Vieira seized an opportunity to take a long-range shot. The Dortmund goalkeeper failed to securely hold onto the ball, and during Dortmund’s attempt to play out, Vieira quickly regained possession.

This time, he chose to set up a teammate instead, delivering a precise pass to former Arsenal player Albert Sambi Lokonga, who made it 2-0.

Vieira’s Impressive Contributions

This assist marked Vieira’s sixth direct involvement in goals over his last nine Bundesliga appearances, including notable contributions against both Bayern and Leipzig, along with his assist in the match against Dortmund.

Late Game Disappointment

Unfortunately, the match took a disappointing turn for HSV after Vieira was substituted in the 67th minute. Following his departure, the team’s performance declined sharply, with Borussia Dortmund scoring three goals in a rapid succession (73rd, 78th, and 84th minutes) leading to a 3-2 loss for HSV.

Despite the defeat, Vieira’s performance has only increased his market value, presenting HSV with a challenging negotiation stance for a permanent transfer in the future.

Hamburger SV is reportedly prepared to offer Vieira a long-term deal, yet they are hesitant to meet his €20 million release clause. Instead, they are aiming for a more manageable fee in the “high single-digit million euro” range, as highlighted by a recent report from Bild.

As Vieira continues to produce strong performances, it seems unlikely that Arsenal will agree to such a low transfer fee for the 25-year-old player.
