British Deputy Commissioner to Ghana, Keith McMahon has expressed disappointment that Liverpool failed to sign Mohammed Kudus during the summer transfer window.
Liverpool opted to sign German playmaker Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen before the start of the season.
However, Wirtz has yet to find his rhythm under new manager Arne Slot.
The 22-year-old German has gone 11 games without scoring, which has drawn criticism from fans frustrated by his lack of impact.
Speaking to TV3, McMahon, a devoted Liverpool supporter, admitted he would have preferred Kudus over Wirtz.
He praised the Ghanaian’s skill, consistency, and attacking flair.
“Mohammed Kudus… this man is exceptional,” McMahon said. “I don’t understand why we didn’t buy him from West Ham.
I would have signed him before Wirtz.”
Kudus, who joined Tottenham Hotspur from West Ham United in the summer, has enjoyed a bright start in London.
He has already scored once and provided four assists in eight Premier League matches.
The Ghanaian international’s pace, vision, and ability to create chances have earned him praise from both fans and analysts.
His performances have made him one of the league’s most exciting attacking players this season.
Kudus’ strong form has reignited debate among Liverpool supporters, many of whom believe the club made a mistake by choosing Wirtz instead.
Some argue Kudus’ direct style and creativity would have brought more balance to Liverpool’s midfield.
For now, McMahon’s remarks highlight growing admiration for Kudus and ongoing frustration among Liverpool fans who believe the club missed a golden opportunity to sign one of Africa’s most promising footballers.
