DFB Imposes Suspension on Bayerns Jackson Amid Rough Play Incident

DFB Imposes Suspension on Bayern's Jackson Amid Rough Play Incident

FC Bayern to Face Key Absences Due to Suspensions

Nicolas Jackson Banned for Two Matches

FC Bayern will not have Nicolas Jackson at their disposal for the upcoming Bundesliga fixtures. The forward has received a two-match suspension from the DFB sports court following his red card incident during the critical match against Bayer Leverkusen.

The confrontation took place in the 42nd minute of the game, which ended in a 1-1 tie at the BayArena. Jackson was late to challenge Martin Terrier, making significant contact with the Leverkusen player’s ankle. Initially, referee Christian Dingert issued a yellow card, but after consulting with the VAR, he reversed his decision and sent off the Bayern striker.

The DFB Control Committee later determined that Jackson’s action constituted “rough play,” resulting in the two-match suspension from Bundesliga play, a ruling that is now legally binding.

Impact of the Suspension

As a result, the 24-year-old will be unavailable for Bayern’s home match against Union Berlin set for next Saturday, as well as their clash with SC Freiburg during the international break. Jackson has recently served as a substitute for Harry Kane and has played a pivotal role in Bayern’s offensive strategies, making his absence particularly impactful during this crucial juncture of the season.

Additional Suspension for Luis Díaz

In an additional development affecting FC Bayern, the DFB sports court dismissed the club’s appeal regarding Luis Díaz’s suspension. The Colombian received a yellow-red card in the 84th minute of the same match against Leverkusen. Referee Dingert later expressed his belief that the decision was overly harsh, stating, “When I see the pictures now, it’s not a penalty. Yellow-red is very harsh; I wouldn’t give it like that now.”

However, despite the referee’s comments, the original decision remains in effect. Presiding judge Stephan Oberholz clarified that it was a factual decision made by the referee, which can only be adjusted under very stringent conditions.

“The critical aspect is that the process is a factual decision that can only be altered if it is seriously, obviously, and objectively incorrect without any doubt,” explained Oberholz.

Bayern will now have to contend with the absence of both Jackson and Díaz for their upcoming home game against Union Berlin.
