Deco Discusses Barcelonas January Transfer Strategy and Ter Stegens Future Plans
Deco’s Insights on FC Barcelona’s Future Strategies
This morning, Deco shared his thoughts about FC Barcelona’s plans during an interview on Cadena SER.
Challenges in the Player Market
Deco remarked, “The reality is that discovering quality players suitable for Barça is quite challenging in the current market. I emphasize that we probably won’t be targeting this in January.”
Vision for Squad Development
He added, “When we were structuring the squad, we had clear intentions for the innovations we wanted to pursue. Our focus isn’t solely on this season; we are also considering the future. The team began to take shape last season, and our goal is to solidify this lineup. We are dedicated to this process, always with an eye on what lies ahead, and we are pleased with our progress.”
Ter Stegen’s Recovery Update
Deco also spoke about the status of goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen: “The primary focus is on ensuring he is cleared to play and available for selection. Ter Stegen needs to recuperate, and the coach will determine when he is ready. His ambition is to return to the pitch, and he could fill the role of first, second, or even third-choice goalkeeper. We will assess the situation. He has a contract with Barça, which is the most definitive aspect.”
Contract Renewal for Eric García
Additionally, Deco discussed the upcoming renewal of Eric García’s contract: “Only a few final details remain… but Eric will be signing a new agreement.”
