Marc Cucurella has disclosed that his initial desire was to move to Manchester City prior to his transfer to Chelsea. The Blues made headlines three years ago when they invested £60 million to acquire the wing-back from Brighton.

Cucurella’s Statement on the Transfer

In an interview with Movistar, Cucurella shared, “Man City showed interest in me before I signed with Chelsea. They were performing exceptionally well, regarded as one of the top teams globally.”

“I was eager to make the switch. When a club like that comes calling, especially with Guardiola involved, it’s hard to resist. You’d go to great lengths for such an opportunity. Unfortunately, the clubs couldn’t come to terms.”

“Brighton’s asking price was above market value, which made the transfer unfeasible.”
