Palace Open to Selling Guehi for Right Offer – Glasner

Crystal Palace’s Position on Marc Guehi

Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, has stated that the club would consider selling their captain, Marc Guehi, if an appropriate offer is made during this transfer window.

The talented defender from England is nearing the end of his contract, which expires this summer, and he has attracted interest from Manchester City among other teams.

Transfer Insights

Palace previously rejected a £35 million offer from Liverpool for Guehi over the summer. However, they risk losing the 25-year-old for free if he doesn’t extend his contract before the season concludes. Manchester City’s interest has heightened in light of recent injuries to key defenders during a match against Chelsea.

“I’m aware of the situation,” Glasner remarked in comments captured by various media outlets. “If a significant bid comes in from City and Marc is on board with the move, then it could happen.”

Interest from Major Clubs

Several prestigious clubs across Europe, including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Atletico Madrid, have also expressed their intention to acquire Guehi, potentially without a transfer fee. As of this month, he can engage in discussions with foreign clubs regarding a pre-contract agreement.

Glasner emphasized the importance of both sporting and financial considerations in such decisions, stating, “From a purely sporting perspective, our team consensus would be for Marc to remain. The chairman would likely echo this sentiment. But when financial matters come into play, the dynamics shift.”

He continued, “There will come a point when the club must prioritize financial concerns over sporting ones. Should an offer arrive, we must determine if it surpasses our threshold.”

Guehi’s Contributions and Future Prospects

Last season, Guehi played a pivotal role in helping Palace achieve a 12th place finish in the Premier League and clinched the FA Cup, marking the club’s first-ever qualification for Europe. Additionally, the team triumphed in the Community Shield against Premier League champions Liverpool, showcasing their competitiveness on multiple fronts this season.

Reflecting on the previous summer’s declined offers, Glasner noted, “We turned down several bids to secure a strong season and aimed to win the Community Shield. Marc was integral to these goals, and ultimately, he chose to stay. The value of those offers did not meet our expectations at the time, even if they were close.”
